“My husband and I have just returned from a fabulous week at Molino Cis. The old Mill House is rustic and charming with all you need for a great holiday. Situated by the Ardo river, surrounded by a lovely garden and with a view of the mountains in the distance, it really is a picturesque spot.
There are opportunities for gentle walking as well as serious mountain hiking. The wild flowers are stunning and there’s so much nature to enjoy. Just on the edge of the National Park it’s easy to drive into the park and enjoy the higher mountains. My husband is a photographer and was in seventh heaven!
We spent a wonderful afternoon exploring the beautiful old town of Feltre with it’s incredible frescoes and town square. It is supposed to be one of the best examples of a preserved 16th century town in Italy. Set on the top of a hill with city gates at each end – a real gem to visit. We also visited a Palladian Villa about an hour away – so plenty to keep you occupied.
There were plenty of places to eat out and all the local towns were an easy drive away. We sampled the local town restaurants as well as going for something more ‘gourmet’ about half an hour’s drive away. The people were so friendly and helpful and we became very fond of the staff at the local bar where we stopped for our daily early morning coffee and shop!
Thank you for a wonderful holiday!”
“We have recently visited Molino Cis for the second time. It is a really magical place in a very beautiful part of the world. The house is spacious, well set out and well equipped, with ample space for the whole family. It has been restored with sensitivity to its historic origins and incredible natural surroundings. The views of the mountains from the house are sublime, We spent many days in the garden and also enjoyed exploring and cooling off in the river. It is a five minute drive and twenty minute walk to the local village where there are supermarkets, bakers -all the shops you need- plus the lovely weekly open air market. The home made ice cream from the local gelateria is to be recommended! The local area is one of outstanding natural beauty, with a range of outdoor pursuits on your doorstep from serious mountaineering to gentle walks around mountain top lakes. Nearby towns such as Feltre, Belluno and Agordo are definitely worth visiting for their beautiful architecture, views and also their lovely cafes and restaurants with wonderful Italian coffee and food. We are already missing the sounds of the river, the birds and eating our meals outdoors. Thank you for a fantastic holiday in a truly unique house. We look forward to visiting again.”
“We had the most enjoyable week at Molino Cis in June. It is a very special and magical place. The large airy bedrooms with traditional shutters kept out the heat perfectly. The additional outside toilet, as we had been told, has a wonderful framed view of the magnificent Dolomite mountains. We loved the privacy of the garden with its abundance of wild flowers and roses, stunning views and amazing bird life. It was perfect for al fresco dining and each evening we were entertained by the fireflies glowing and dancing. The access road can be a bit tricky but by taking it slowly and following the instructions is manageable. The reference book in the house was very useful with a list of the various local markets and we enjoyed a number of recommended walks. The towns of Belluno, Feltre and Agordo are worth a visit. Trichiana has a good selection of restaurants and shops and many of the owners spoke very fondly of Penny and Nigel Roberts. Pure delight.”
“We had a wonderful family holiday at this beautiful place a couple of years ago. Dave and I walked in the National Park of the Dolomites and ate in mountain refuges. We visited the local Renaissance town of Feltre with its painted facades, and ventured through the Prosecco vineyards to visit the Palladian villas near Vicenza. We all bathed in the river Ardo adjacent to the Mill, the boys played badminton and ping pong and enjoyed eating the pizzas in the local village of Trichiana. It is such a peaceful place to relax in, surrounded by the wild flower meadows with the view of the distant Dolomites. Birds, fireflies, a yellow backed toad, fire salamanders, deer and hares were there with us.”
